PRESS RELEASE

22 December 2020

With St Pats 2021 shaping as a race meeting like no other, the response according to the Club has been overwhelming.

“We have been inundated with bookings for our three hospitality areas,” Race Club President Margaret Corradini said.

The races next year will operate under strict COVID-19 protocols and the number of patrons will be restricted.

“It has been a challenge but we are determined to provide an event for the City,” Mrs Corradini said.

With numbers being limited to a percentage of the normal attendance and other conditions, such as patrons being seated and all tickets pre-sold, it has created a new approach from the Club to the race meeting.

The concern the Club has is locals who wait until a week or 2 out from the race meeting to purchase tickets will miss out if the current restrictions stay in place.

The initial bookings have been mainly from interstate with people keen to travel to Broken Hill for the race meeting.

There have been a number of group bookings including one group of 40 people from South Australia.

“I would say 95% of our bookings are from outside of Broken Hill,” said Lawn Lounge convenor Lindy Robins.

“We already have over 200 people booked in the Pavilion, Lawn Lounge and Wacky’s bar.”

The Club will release general admission tickets early in the New Year.

There will be areas set aside for the general public but under the COVID-19 plan for race meetings all tickets will have to be pre-purchased.

“We have to hammer the message that no tickets can be sold at the gate on race day, “ Mrs Corradini said.

“This is the environment we are all now living in and we have to abide by the instructions from Racing NSW, the State Government and the Health Authorities.”

“Having said that though, we are all committed to St Pats 2021 going ahead and being an event to remember.”

The club is taking bookings via email, their Facebook page or by calling the office on 8087 7550.
